Who is I.C. Youth Ministry?
Immaculate Conception Youth Ministry is coordinated by Scott Morin. Scott has been ministering to young people since graduating from Ithaca College in 1989. Involved in Young Life, an inter-denominational youth group, as a high school student in Danvers, MA, Scott discovered Jesus' powerful impact on his life. His first position in Youth Ministry was in his hometown, coordinating Youth Ministry for St. Richard and St. Mary of the Annunciation Parishes. In 1997 he was hired to coordinate comprehensive Youth Ministry at St. Zepherin Parish in Wayland, MA. Scott joined us here at Immaculate Conception Parish in October 2001. Scott is married to the lovely Margo, who is the Parish Formation Coordinator at Immaculate Conception Parish.

The Immaculate Conception Youth Ministry Leadership Team is made up of dedicated, outgoing, and caring adults and teens who put their hearts into making our community a loving place.  They meet once a month to plan events and experiences for those preparing for Confirmation and beyond.  Our successful team is an integral component of Youth Ministry and Generations of Faith at Immaculate Conception Parish

What is I.C. Youth Ministry?
Immaculate Conception Youth Ministry is the response of our Christian community to the specific needs of young people, and the sharing of the unique gifts of the youth with the larger community. Youth Ministry at Immaculate Conception is relational, multidimensional, holistic, and people-centered. Adolescence is a significant time in the development of the human person. Our parish community has an important role in building assets in youth and assisting youth to successfully complete the developmental tasks particular to adolescence. The presence of young people at our parish is a sign of hope and a great gift to us.

The vision of the Church for youth is grounded in a contemporary understanding of the life and work of Jesus Christ, and expressed through
eight components of advocacy, catechesis, community life, evangelization, justice and service, leadership development, pastoral care, and prayer and worship. Our young people are integral to all ministries at Immaculate Conception, authentically involved in our mission.

Youth Ministry strives to promote quality programs, healthy relationships and functions for youth in grades 6-12. This inclusive ministry provides faith Fun at DEL!formation, social activities, retreats and service projects as well as leadership training and mentoring. We offer many opportunities for our youth to grow within the Catholic community and with Jesus. Youth Ministry also supports and helps strengthen families through its comprehensive programs, services and resources.

The Youth Ministry process happens when a variety of people, through a team approach, share with one another their stories and their lives. By doing so, they share the story of our Creator.

Goals of I.C. Youth Ministry
+
Youth Ministry seeks to foster the total personal and spiritual growth of each young person.

+ Youth Ministry seeks to draw young people to responsible participation in the life, mission, and the work of the faith community.

+ Youth Ministry empowers young people to become disciples of Jesus Christ who witness to their faith by living and working for justice, peace, and human dignity.

Fun on the Cruise! We have many youth groups
Youth groups gather during the school season for all youth in grades 6-12. Our Wednesday night gatherings are open to youth in grades 9 through 12 offering unique opportunities to grow in their Catholic faith. Youth in grades 6 through 8 gather once a month on Sunday nights for WildLIFE Youth Group. All youth have the opportunity to travel to fun places, attend special events, complete service projects, and pray and worship at the weekly 5 PM Youth Mass. All gatherings include prayer and community building activities.

Youth are active parishioners at I.C.
All young people and their familes are invited and challenged to respond to their baptismal call. Their talents are used to serve the church and the community. All those choosing to be more active are trained in different ministries and many have important roles in the 5 PM Youth Mass. Social and Community Building activities are organized throughout the entire year. We also place a priority on service and justice -- monthly projects are for the youth, their families, and friends.

Immaculate Conception Youth Ministry encourages young people to embark on a journey of faith and relationship with God through Jesus Christ. At our weekly 5 PM Youth Mass, youth enter into authentic and full worship of God with a faith community of peers, families and adult ministers. All experience Christ's power and love through praise, prayer and breaking open the Word of God in scripture. Many young people are actively involved in ministries at the liturgy.
